Uxobal has never really thought much about honesty and decency. His work is against the law — he provides illegal immigrants with jobs, for which he then takes interest from their salaries. He has dozens of Chinese residents at his disposal who came to Barcelona to earn money. To save on their upkeep, Uksobal places the Chinese in small rooms where they sleep literally on top of each other, and you don't even have to talk about the quality of the food provided.<br />
But one day the main character has to think about his existence. The doctors gave him a disappointing diagnosis — the disease has been neglected for a long time, and it no longer makes sense to treat it. Uksobal is divorced and has two children in his care, so he must be able to do everything they need. He also wants to understand if he has lived correctly up to this time. He is constantly tormented by the question — is it not in vain that he was in this world? In the process of preparing for his own death, Uxobal tries not only to take care of his children, but also to atone for all his sins, of which, as it turns out, he has a lot. At the same time, the police come to his shady business, and life throws up new challenges, periodically delighting with pleasant surprises. <br />
